Accessibility Statement

Skincare information
should be easier to access.

Skin Candid is being designed so that more people can read, navigate and understand its content across different devices, browsers and assistive technologies.

This statement describes our accessibility target, current work, known limitations and how to report a problem.

Current status

The website is still being built and has not yet completed a formal accessibility audit.

Honest pre-launch status

Skin Candid aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We do not currently claim complete conformance because full manual and assistive-technology testing has not yet been completed.

Accessibility testing will be part of the launch checklist and ongoing website maintenance.

Accessibility target

Our working standard is WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

WCAG provides testable guidance for making web content more accessible to people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning and neurological disabilities.

Perceivable

Information should be presented in ways that users can perceive, including meaningful text alternatives and sufficient visual contrast.

Operable

Navigation and interactive controls should work without requiring a mouse or precise touch input.

Understandable

Language, navigation, labels and page behaviour should remain clear and reasonably predictable.

Robust

Content should use reliable HTML structures that work with current browsers and assistive technologies.

What we are building into the site

Accessibility should be part of the design system—not an afterthought.

Responsive mobile layout

Pages are designed to remain readable and usable on phones, tablets and desktop screens.

Clear heading structure

Pages should use one primary heading and a logical hierarchy that helps readers and assistive technologies understand the content.

Keyboard visibility

Links, buttons and controls should show a visible focus state when reached through keyboard navigation.

Readable typography

Body text, line spacing, content width and heading sizes are selected for comfortable reading rather than dense presentation.

Colour restraint

Text and essential controls should not depend on subtle colour differences alone to communicate meaning.

Descriptive links

Link wording should explain the destination instead of relying only on vague phrases such as “click here.”

Image alternatives

Informative images should receive meaningful alternative text. Decorative images should not create unnecessary screen-reader noise.

Simple interaction patterns

Navigation, accordions, forms and future tools should avoid unnecessary motion, surprise behaviour and difficult gestures.

Content clarity

Accessible information is also understandable information.

Skin Candid begins with the direct answer and then provides deeper explanation, limitations and supporting detail.

We aim to avoid unnecessarily technical language, unexplained abbreviations, sensational wording and page structures that force readers to hunt for the answer.

Testing planned before launch

Automated checks alone are not enough.

The launch review should combine technical tools with manual testing.

Manual checks

  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Visible focus order
  • Heading hierarchy
  • Form labels and error messages
  • Alternative text quality
  • Link purpose and button naming
  • Content at 200% and 400% zoom
  • Mobile orientation and responsive reflow

Technical and assistive checks

  • Colour contrast testing
  • HTML validation where useful
  • Automated accessibility scans
  • Screen-reader review on key templates
  • Reduced-motion behaviour
  • Touch-target size and spacing
  • Modal and accordion operation
  • Error prevention on future forms and tools

Known pre-launch limitations

Some parts of the website are not complete yet.

Temporary images

Some preview images may be replaced before launch and their final alternative text has not yet been approved.

Newsletter form

The real subscription form and its validation, consent and error handling have not yet been installed.

Future tools

Comparators, routine builders, filters and other interactive tools will require separate accessibility testing.

Third-party content

Future embeds, advertising, affiliate tools and external widgets may not provide the same level of accessibility as the core site.

Formal audit

No independent accessibility certification or full conformance audit has been completed at this stage.

Profile and legal details

Some launch pages and organisational information are still being completed and reviewed.

Third-party services

External tools can create accessibility limitations outside our direct control.

Retailer pages, embedded media, advertising platforms, newsletter services, social platforms and other third-party tools operate under their own systems.

Skin Candid will consider accessibility when selecting providers and will avoid or replace tools that create serious barriers where a reasonable alternative exists.

Alternative access

Tell us when a barrier prevents access to important information.

If you cannot access a page, document or essential piece of information, contact Skin Candid and describe the content you need.

We will try to provide a reasonable accessible alternative and investigate the underlying problem.

Reporting an accessibility problem

Specific reports help us reproduce and fix the issue.

Please include

  • The page URL
  • A description of the problem
  • The task you were trying to complete
  • Your browser and device where known
  • The assistive technology used where relevant
  • A screenshot only when it is useful and safe to share

We may

  • Ask for clarification
  • Provide the information in another format
  • Repair the page or component
  • Replace an inaccessible third-party tool
  • Add the issue to the accessibility backlog
  • Update this statement when the issue is systemic

Continuous improvement

Accessibility work continues after launch.

Template review

New article, comparison, review and hub templates should be checked before large-scale use.

Content review

Editors should check headings, link text, tables, alternative text and plain-language structure during publication.

Regression testing

Theme, plugin and design changes should be checked so earlier accessibility fixes are not lost.

User feedback

Reported barriers should influence future design, provider selection and editorial workflow.

Statement updates

This statement will be updated after testing and material website changes.

The launch version should include the date of the most recent accessibility review, the testing method, the templates tested and any unresolved limitations.

Skin Candid will not claim WCAG conformance until the claim is supported by appropriate testing.
